WEST OF THE WEST: A MUSICAL OASIS

July 11, 2016. Electronic Pop-Indie Artists Goldroom, also known as Josh Legg, reaches a milestone in his music career. He tweets,

“My debut album, West Of The West, is out Sept 23. Been dreaming about sending this tweet for 3 years!”

The singer/songwriter/producer began making music back in 2011. Through the years, he’s released a handful of EPs and singles – one of my personal favorites being Embrace. Since 2014, he’s made appearances at festivals some local ones being HARD Summer, Lightning in a Bottle, and the infamous Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival just earlier this year. Goldroom is particularly entertaining to watch for his “live” sets, much like similar music acts including Disclosure or Gorgon City. It’s now a dance music trend to include live elements in performances. It’s worthwhile to note that Josh has effortlessly been bridging the gap between live electronica and indie for years now. It’s nothing new for him.

West of the West will be Josh’s first full-length studio album set to release via Downtown Records. The album is now available for pre-order HERE from all participating digital retailers and at Goldroom.LA. Those who pre-order digitally will receive an instant download of the new track, “Silhouette.”

I’ve wanted to center Goldroom around honest songwriting, and in late 2015 things poured out in a way they just hadn’t before,” Goldroom says of the album, which showcases his vocals and musicianship. “Classic American songwriting is something I’ve tried hard to honor and push forward. Although I make electronic-based music, I think of this as Americana at its emotional core.  I was aching to write something more simple and earnest, devoid of cynicism,” Goldroom says of “Silhouette” which pays homage to Daft Punk, Phoenix, and Alan Braxe.

The album’s title is inspired by Teddy Roosevelt, who referred to California as “West of the West” during his presidency. “It’s always resonated with me because it feels like a destination past the Wild West — an oasis where anything is possible,” says the Los Angeles-based Goldroom. “To me, West of the West is also the Pacific Ocean, where so much of my life and inspiration lies.

Following the September release of West of the West, Goldroom will venture on a 30+ tour co-headlined with Autograf. Some of these stops will include Oakland, Los Angeles, San Diego, Boulder, Chicago, St. Louis, and Austin. General admission tickets will launch this Friday, July 15th.
